The Economic Optimism
Index results presented here are for the survey period of January 3-8,
2003, which has a sample size of 902. For all indices, the higher the
score, the more favorable the outlook.

The
Economic Optimism Index is a more comprehensive
indicator of the nation's economic standing than other leading indicators.
Beyond including people's basic economic outlook and personal financial
situations, the Index also takes a look at satisfaction with the federal
economic policies currently in effect.
