The Economic Optimism Index is a function of three questions or components: economic conditions in the next six months, a respondent's personal financial outlook over the next six months and their satisfaction with current federal economic policies.

Below are the results of the first poll, conducted February 15-19, 2001, with 943 adults. The graphs present the data broken up into the Index's components as well as by region, age, gender, race, income, party affiliation and how investors feel.
