The National Outlook Index Components include both the Economic Optimism and Presidential Leadership in addition to the 4 questions posed about the country's standing in terms of different issues. Respondents are asked about their quality of life today and their feelings about the U.S.'s standing in the world, as well as their views on the country's morals values.

For all indices, the higher the score, the more favorable the outlook. Responses to each question range from 0 to 100. Anything above a score of 50 gives a positive outlook while anything below 50, gives a negative one.
